Computer Studies Made Simple : Data Representation in Computers and types of Data

Data Representation in Computers and types of Data

The data transfer and representation in computers is in form of binary numbers or digits also called as a bit  .

The binary numbers  are 2 : “0” and “1”.

This data is represented in the form of electrical pulses.

Binary digit “1” implies presence of electrical impulse.

Binary digit “0” implies absence of electrical impulse.

Byte refers to a collection or set of 8 bits.

Different types and forms of data:

Data maybe in one of the following forms:

Text:

This consists of words,sentences etc

Numericals:

This includes numbers from 0 to 9 andother mathematical symbols such as -,+,* etc
